Friday Morning Hobby Class

Join our friendly class for hobby upholsterers

Traditional Upholstery School's new Friday Hobby Class runs on Friday mornings during term time, from 9.30am to 1pm. This three and a half hour session gives students plenty of time to get stuck into their upholstery project, learn and practise new skills, and make a real difference to their progress. Our lovely tutor Alice (above, third from left) will guide and teach you to do a beautiful job... and enjoy it too!

Bring your own chair

Perhaps you have a family heirloom or a favourite chair that needs revamping with new cover? You
can come along with your own piece, breathe new life into it and learn new upholstery skills as you go.

OR

Make a bespoke footstool

Traditional Upholstery School has its own range of footstool frames designed to be fitted with a huge choice of leg styles.
In just four or five well-spent mornings you'll be able to take home your own bespoke footstool. Wow fab is that!

Who can join?

Friday Morning Hobby Class is open to everyone, from absolute beginners to those who have some experience and would like some tuition and support with their current project. We aim to help you progress and build on your skills in a useful and transferable way, so we are happy to advise you on what project would be best for your stage of learning.

Possibly the biggest advantages of the Friday morning classes are enjoying time in a spacious professional workroom, a creative industrious atmosphere, making friends and sharing ideas. There is a maximum of eight students in the class. At just £48 per session (plus VAT) (bookable as x5 sessions) with high quality tuition, this is a great value class.

How does it work?

Students book the term of five sessions using the links below. On the day bring along a piece of furniture you are working on. One of our tutors - usually Alice or Joanna - takes the class, offering help and tuition so that you really get the most out of your skills and learn new ones too. Many of our students bring along their own tools and fabrics, but we have them her for you to use on the day.

What to bring?

Your piece of furniture, plus top fabric, if you are at that stage. If you have your own tools and materials, do bring them, making sure they are clearly marked. You will also need to wear comfy clothes and shoes. Tools are available to borrow on the day. Upholstery sundries can be bought on an as-you-use-it basis.

Booking for the first time?

Do send us an email with a photo of your intended project. This will help us make sure we are prepared, and we can also advise you as to whether it is suitable for your stage of learning. Booking in advance is advised as this class is popular. Please note that Friday Morning Hobby Class is bookable as a set of five classes. Fees cannot be returned due to lack of attendance and places may not be swapped or exchanged. Friday Upholstery Club is subject to our usual terms.
