A three day masterclass in creative pleating skills for lampshade makers

Mastering swathed pleats using fine fabrics such as silk chiffon is the next step towards being able to make highly sophisticated and creative lampshades.
This three-day masterclass is delivered by lampshade maker and author Joanna Heptinstall. Creative, industrious and packed with information, it is suitable for sewers and those with a little experience in lampshade making. Our aim is that you leave well equipped for many years of inspired lampshade making. With three days together, this course is great if you have a long way to travel.

About the course

Your first day will be spent hand colouring your fabric and trimmings using specialist dye. You will then work step-by-step through the shade-making technique, from setting on the fitted lining to folding the pleats in place, learning how to handle delicate fabrics. With a small class size in a dedicated space for dyeing, sewing and learning this is a superb way to learn and be creative.
