Pleating is a wonderfully versatile and creative lampshade technique that looks gorgeous in so many fabrics, from block prints and pretty cotton lawns, to fine linens and snazzy silk dupion.
Book a day of 1-2-1 tuition to learn all the core techniques for how to make a pleated lampshade. Based in the dedicated Sewing Room at Traditional Upholstery School, expert lampshade tutors Joanna or Naomi will teach you each stage step-by-step, from binding the frame to hand pleating and stitching the fabric. Everything you need is provided, including a French drum shade in your choice of size. At the end of this wonderfully creative and rewarding day you will take home your own impressive handmade pleated shade in your own choice of fabric… and importantly the skills to make many more.
This day is suitable for one, two or three students. All you need to bring is 1m fabric to cover your shade. Suitable for beginners and experienced sew-ers alike. Further details available by clicking the link below.
