Friday Upholstery Hobby Class

Join our friendly class for hobby upholsterers... chairs, fluff and coffee

Traditional Upholstery School's class for hobby upholsterers is our longest running class – it’s how we started. Our new Friday Hobby Class runs on Friday mornings during term time, from 9.30am to 1pm. This three and a half hour session day gives students plenty of time to get stuck in, learn and practise new skills, and make a real difference to their current project.

Who can join?

Upholstery Club is open to everyone, from absolute beginners to those who have some experience and would like some tuition and support with the tricky bits. We aim to help you progress and build on your skills in a useful and transferable way, so will advise you on what project would be best for your stage of learning. Possibly the biggest advantages of all are enjoying time in the spacious workroom, a creative industrious atmosphere, making friends and sharing ideas. There is a maximum of nine students in the class. At just £35 per session (bookable as x10 sessions for the full term) for high quality tuition, this is a great value class.

How does it work?

Students book the term of ten sessions using the links below. On the day bring along a piece of furniture you are working on. One of our tutors - usually Alice or Joanna - takes the class, offering help and tuition so that you really get the most out of your skills and learn new ones too.

What to bring?

Your piece of furniture, plus top fabric, if you are at that stage. We will supply you with hand tools for use on the day, and all upholstery sundries and materials, which are charged on an as-you-use it basis. If you have your own tools and materials, do bring them, making sure they are clearly marked. You will also need to wear comfy clothes and shoes.

Booking for the first time?

Do send us an email with a photo of your intended project. This will help us make sure we are prepared, and we can also advise you as to whether it is suitable for your stage of learning. Booking in advance is advised as this class is popular.

Please note that Friday Hobby Class is bookable as a set of ten classes. Fees cannot be returned due to lack of attendance and places may not be swapped or exchanged. Friday Upholstery Club is subject to our usual terms.
