This great fun and busy two-day workshop is designed to teach novice upholsterers the skills of deep buttoning. Over the two days students will build up their footstool frame with modern upholstery materials, which they will then button into, learning how to create the beautiful folds and diamond pattern that are the hallmark of traditional deep buttoning. A beautiful deep buttoned footstool will be yours to take home.
The course will include a masterclass demonstration designed to teach students how they can take this method forward to work on other shapes and arrangement of buttoning design. Students will also be given a comprehensive worksheet to take home (there'll be a lot to remember ;-))
What is provided? The 12x18in hand-built footstool frames will be provided, with unfinished (bare wood) 6in Queen Anne style legs. Details will be provided on booking. All filling materials, calico and tacks will be provided as part of the course.
What do you need to bring? Students should supply their own top fabric. This should be a good quality upholstery weight fabric. 1m should suffice. You will make your own covered buttons using our professional button press as part of the course.
