Advanced stitching techniques - raised edges for curved shapes
This two-day course is designed to enable upholsterer's to explore more advanced stitching techniques, working with curved shapes and feather edges. Working on circular frames, students first build a stitched and stuffed edge using hair, 10oz scrim and stitching twine, planning and working successions of blind and top edge stitching to create a highly accurate and firm shape, such as that found on the inside back of a Victorian spoon-back chair. Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to consider all the various applications of this creative technique and how it can be applied to their future work.
