12-week Foundation Course... taking your hobby seriouslyThe Traditional Upholstery School's 12-week long part-time foundation course is especially designed as a solid introduction to upholstery skills. Teaching important core upholstery skills - both traditional and modern - it offers beginners an opportunity to learn a fully-transferable range of upholstery skills to high standard so that they can continue upholstering a wide range of creative bespoke pieces for their home. This course is designed for complete beginners, and also for more practiced hobbyists who wish to hone their skills to a higher standard. It is independent to the Traditional Upholstery School.
Course content • Upholster a drop-in seat (traditional methods and materials) • Upholster a shallow buttoned footstool (modern methods and materials) • Upholster a sprung dining or nursing chair (traditional methods and materials) • Upholster a deep buttoned footstool or single headboard (modern materials) • Sew a piped scatter cushion with an inset zip. The course runs for 12 days, one day a week. Hours are 9.30am to 4.30pm. This course is designed to be enjoyable and informative... and of course a workmanlike approach is encouraged. A deposit of £200 is due when a place is booked, with the balance due on the first week of the course. Receipts are issued for all payments. Students should bring their own projects and top fabrics. Tools are available for use and all upholstery materials are available. Course hours are 9.30am to 4.30pm, one day a week. Cost breakdown per day is £50.
