Tailored Lampshade Making - a Two Day Course
In this busy and skill-packed class you will learn all the skills involved in recovering traditional soft-sided tailored lampshades, including: restoring a shade frame; binding the frame; creating a template; machine sewing seams; pinning and stretching on your fabric and lining; and making bias binding.
What to bring? Students should bring their own lampshade frame and fabric, plus a decorative trim to finish. We have plenty of pins but do bring along your own matching thread, fabric scissors, small snipping scissors and general sewing kit. Lining fabric and cotton tape are provided. We usually have some vintage shade frames available for sale. Ideally students should bring their own sewing machine, in good working order.
We will keep your creativity fuelled plenty of tea, coffee and home made cake. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch or may prefer to make the most of the Field Kitchen, which is just next door.
