Coronavirus - our plan to keep on track
21st March 2020
It’s heartbreaking to announce but I have decided to close our school doors for the next few weeks in order to keep our students and tutors safe. I’m also writing to assure you that when we open again everyone can successfully finish their training.
The nationwide school closures have affected many of our students’ ability to attend. It’s unfair to expect them to continue missing sessions. Rest assured that we are determined that all current One Year Professional Upholstery Diploma students will receive their full training and graduate with no loss of learning. We will have to extend course dates to manage this. We will discuss with students to find the most viable way for everyone finish their course.
AMUSF courses starting in September 2020
We currently intend to begin our AMUSF training courses in September 2020. But we will follow government advice and start when the coast is properly clear. This crisis has happened in the middle of our usual enrolment period. Our usual taster days and our open day have been cancelled, so we’ve changed our usual system.
• All interested students are now asked to contact us via email. We will send you an information pack and invite you to visit us and chat about the course one-to-one. If that’s not possible, we can talk on the phone.
• Students will be encouraged to come to a Saturday taster day when conditions allow. This won’t be compulsory though!
• Because of the uncertainty of the next few weeks, the enrolment period will of course be extended.
We hope to re-open on Monday 1st June 2020 for the start of term six. Of course this is subject to government advice and we’ll keep you posted. Myself, Eloise and Rowena are using this time to plan lessons and keep in touch with students. We are using email to keep your hammers busy. It’s amazing what comes from times of necessity: I have never been keen to star in my own videos… but now seems to be my moment.
Over the past few weeks I have been overwhelmed with your cheery support. I am lucky to work with such a lovely community of people. Thank you. The Traditional Upholstery School now has to concentrate on keeping the business going so we’re still here when all this is over. Please continue to support us and we will troop on!
Stay safe and well – and keep in touch. xx
